If you want to properly load the whole model in Blender, load the QC instead of a single SMD. For the textures, you'll need this other tool to decompile the vtf files into tga or bmp files. They both use the same file, so do be sure which ones you're loading. Just note that there is another use for SMDs: Animations. All it's vertexes and what textures it needs. The QC is the model script, defining (in the Source engine) where the textures are, what SMDs the model uses (which are inserted into the model at compile time), what the name of the model is, what animations it has an so on. It will decompile it into 2 main files (and maybe some other ones, but they probably don't mean much to you), the QC and the SMD. However, this method only works if the models are not. Not sure about 3DS Max but there is a full set of tools for Blender that allows it to natively load decompiled Source engine models without having to port it to yet another format. One of the ways to obtain 3D models from games is to look for them in the game files on Steam. Hey, that ain't a bad idea! What about other softwares such as Autodesk 3DS Max and Blender?
